Vibration
training was first developed in Russia by Dr. Nazarov, and later on by
Dr. Issurin, in the seventies, in the course of searching for methods to
help older people stay in shape or regain strength, especially people
suffering from osteoporosis.
Until East-West relations relaxed in 1986, there was little or no
communication across the Iron Curtain and the principle of vibration
training did not start spreading to the West until the late eighties.
The first person to exchange information with the Russians was an
Italian exercise and muscle physiologist by the name of Carmelo Bosco.
By 1999-2000, however, all the existing research had become outdated and
new studies were undertaken that led to the recognition of vibration
training as a revolutionary training method.
Claims
of “the first and original vibration machine”
All
true vibration machines are based on the original Russian model. The
different models do have different looks but they are all designed to
provide the same three-dimensional vibration necessary to produce a
stretch reflex.
It
should be pointed out that the cheaper models on the market – those
priced in the range of
$3000 – do not provide three-dimensional vibration and hence
fail to produce a stretch reflex and all the other benefits of vibration
training.
For
applying this method - and thus taking benefit of its opportunities -,
it is indispensable that a platform produces three-dimensional
vibrations, in order to generate a muscular stretch reflex.
This can not be obtained with recently issued models for home use
(priced in the range of $3000
